Synthetic filters on the grill.
These chemical molecules that absorb UV rays are challenged by the followers of the green attitude for two reasons. One, they penetrate the superficial layers of the epidermis, which increases the risk of allergic reaction. Two, they are not biodegradable and pollute our oceans. Moreover, some marine reserves in Mexico have banned them for several years because of their negative impact on the marine ecosystem, and more particularly that of corals.

The natural alternative.
The principle: replace the chemical filters with crushed and micronized minerals. Inert, they remain on the surface and repel the UV rays like a mirror. They are therefore better tolerated by the epidermis, and that is why they have always been used in sun protection for children. Moreover, mineral does not necessarily mean organic: some brands of pharmacy offer formulas without chemical filters to satisfy sensitive skin and reactive. The real problem with mineral screens is that they lead to texture: the product becomes difficult to spread and leaves a truly unsightly white film on the skin. On an SPF 15 or 20, it is still acceptable, because the minerals are in limited quantity. But as soon as you reach the index 50 , it becomes really pasty. To find them, it is simple: look for the words "without chemical filters" or "100% mineral" on the packaging.

The solution ?
If we have ecological fiber, banco for mineral screens, but we play the game thoroughly and we choose solar certified organic that contain no other synthetic element. If one is not ready to give up fine and sensory textures, it is better to go to hypoallergenic formulas lightened in chemical filters, or who claim a zero impact on the marine ecosystem.
